Anneleen Malfliet obtained her PhD in physiotherapy and rehabilitation sciences in 2018 and now works as a professor and postdoctoral researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium. Her research focusses on chronic pain in general, and more specifically on chronic spinal pain and the role of sleep problems and nutrition in pain. She is a member of the international Pain in Motion research group. She has (co-)authored many peer-reviewed papers, including publications in high impact journals like JAMA Neurology (Q1/D1) and Physical Therapy Journal (Q1). She has ample experience in giving post-academic and refresher courses on chronic pain for physiotherapists in 6 different countries. She is also working as a physiotherapist in the University Hospital of Brussels.
