Heidi Groß

Heidi Groß terminó su formación como fisioterapeuta en 1995. Desde 2000 trabaja por cuenta propia en una consulta conjunta en Saarlouis (Saarland). Ha trabajado cada vez más con pacientes con dolor de cabeza y mandíbula desde 1999 y ha sido terapeuta certificada por CRAFTA® desde 2004.

Sus principales intereses son los pacientes con dolor de cabeza, mareos y columna cervical. De 2005 a 2007 completó la formación OMT en DVMT (concepto Maitland); desde entonces ha encabezado un grupo regional de la DVMT. En su tesis OMT, examinó la relación entre la columna cervical superior y los músculos maseteros.

Es líder de cursos dentro de la organización CRAFTA®.

Over the years, physiotherapists, manual therapists, speech therapists and dentists have shown an increasing clinical and practical interest in the temporomandibular and craniofacial region.

These professions have also shown a positive development towards an enhanced interdisciplinary cooperation. On this background, CRAFTA® (Cranial Facial Therapy Academy) was founded by Harry von Piekartz and others of various disciplines.

The aims of CRAFTA®

Structuring of the international education and continuing professional education of the treatment and management of patients with temporomandibular, craniofacial dysfunctions and pain, as much as possible based on the best available evidence.
Offering international courses to give health professions (e.g. doctors, dentists, orthodontists, orthopedic specialists, speech therapists) the opportunity to contribute to their knowledge.
Quality management and quality assurance of the education and application of craniofacial therapy.
Promote interdisciplinary work and cooperation with dentists, orthopedic specialist, ENT specialists, neurosurgeons, and other specialists who work with this specific patient group.
Defining quality standards mainly for physical therapists and manual therapists, but also other interested health professions.
To stimulate and supervise research projects in the field of TMJ-/ head- and cervical pain
Supervision of current and future research projects that have a focus on physical and manual therapy that are organized and supported by CRAFTA®.
Public relations and communication with other professional associations.
Currently, the most important goal is the continuing education of physical and manual therapists with the following content:

Specialized assessment of patients with head-/neck and face pain
Independent analyses of the assessments and the interpretation of these results using known clinical reasoning strategies
Developing evidence-based long-term treatment and management plans
Specialized communication skills which are relevant in therapy sessions as well as in communication with other disciplines in discussions to find a diagnose and treatment consensus

CERTIFICATIONS

Certification as „Specialist in Craniofacial Therapy“: what does it stand for?

The physical therapists, speech therapists and dentists listed on the CRAFTA® website have successfully passed the CRAFTA® exam.

The exam consist of questions coming from the fields of anatomy, pathology, dentistry nomenclature, pain physiology, cognitive behavioral therapy, neurodynamics, neurological examination, Clinical Reasoning, phylo- and ontogenesis, clinimetrics and documentation of clinical patterns, physical examinations and treatment strategies (based on evidence-based medicine) for the temporomandibular and craniofacial region.

The aim of the exam is the assurance of quality standards in the application of craniofacial therapy. While preparing for the exam, the therapists repeat intensively the learned content. The patients benefit from this thorough knowledge and quality in the treatment approach.

Further, the certificate is meant as a quality assurance for patients and other health professions and organizations in the interdisciplinary cooperation. In order to keep the certificate valid, the certified therapists have the obligation for continuing professional development, e.g. through continuing education courses. This is part of the CRAFTA® accreditation system.

CRAFTA-CERTIFICACION

The CRAFTA® curriculum is the result of the consensus of various dental and physical therapy specialists. The courses are updated every 6 months and follow as much as possible the European accreditation guidelines (Bologna recommendations).

The courses include theoretical and practical components, as well as case studies and live patient presentations (depending on country regulations). The final goal is to educate high quality specialists by presenting current models of thinking and techniques for patients with headaches, face and neck dysfunctions and pain, wherever possible based on scientific evidence.

After having taken the Foundation courses, Advanced courses, Special Course and Clinical Assessment you can take the final CRAFTA® exam in order to become a certified CRAFTA® therapist.

A lo largo de los años, fisioterapeutas, terapeutas manuales, logopedas y dentistas han mostrado un creciente interés clínico y práctico en la región temporomandibular y craneofacial.

Estas profesiones también han mostrado un desarrollo positivo hacia una mayor cooperación interdisciplinaria. Sobre esta base, Harry von Piekartz y otros de diversas disciplinas fundaron CRAFTA® (Cranial Facial Therapy Academy).

Objetivos de CRAFTA®

Estructuración de la educación internacional y educación profesional continua del tratamiento y manejo de pacientes con disfunciones temporomandibulares, craneofaciales y dolor, en la medida de lo posible con base en la mejor evidencia disponible.
Ofreciendo cursos internacionales para brindar a las profesiones de la salud (por ejemplo, médicos, dentistas, ortodoncistas, especialistas en ortopedia, logopedas) la oportunidad de contribuir con sus conocimientos.
Gestión de la calidad y aseguramiento de la calidad de la educación y aplicación de la terapia craneofacial.
Promover el trabajo interdisciplinario y la cooperación con dentistas, ortopedistas, otorrinolaringólogos, neurocirujanos y otros especialistas que trabajan con este grupo específico de pacientes.
Definir estándares de calidad principalmente para fisioterapeutas y terapeutas manuales, pero también para otras profesiones de la salud interesadas.
Estimular y supervisar proyectos de investigación en el campo de la articulación temporomandibular / dolor de cabeza y cervical.
Supervisión de proyectos de investigación actuales y futuros que tienen un enfoque en terapia física y manual que son organizados y apoyados por CRAFTA®.
Relaciones públicas y comunicación con otras asociaciones profesionales.
Actualmente, el objetivo más importante es la educación continua de los terapeutas físicos y manuales con el siguiente contenido:
- Evaluación especializada de pacientes con dolor de cabeza / cuello y cara
- Análisis independientes de las evaluaciones y la interpretación de estos resultados utilizando estrategias de razonamiento clínico conocidas
- Desarrollar planes de manejo y tratamiento a largo plazo basados en evidencia
- Habilidades de comunicación especializadas que son relevantes en las sesiones de terapia, así como en la comunicación con otras disciplinas en discusiones para encontrar un consenso de diagnóstico y tratamiento.

CERTIFICACIONES

Certificación como “Specialist in Craniofacial Therapy“: ¿qué significa?

Los fisioterapeutas, terapeutas del habla y dentistas que figuran en el sitio web de CRAFTA® han aprobado con éxito el examen CRAFTA®.

El examen consta de preguntas provenientes de los campos de anatomía, patología, nomenclatura odontológica, fisiología del dolor, terapia cognitivo-conductual, neurodinámica, examen neurológico, razonamiento clínico, filo y ontogénesis, clinimetría y documentación de patrones clínicos, exámenes físicos y estrategias de tratamiento ( basado en la medicina basada en la evidencia) para la región temporomandibular y craneofacial.

El objetivo del examen es el aseguramiento de estándares de calidad en la aplicación de la terapia craneofacial. Mientras se preparan para el examen, los terapeutas repiten intensamente el contenido aprendido. Los pacientes se benefician de este conocimiento profundo y de la calidad en el enfoque del tratamiento.

Además, el certificado pretende ser una garantía de calidad para los pacientes y otras profesiones y organizaciones de la salud en la cooperación interdisciplinaria. Para mantener el certificado válido, los terapeutas certificados tienen la obligación de continuar el desarrollo profesional, p. Ej. a través de cursos de educación continua. Esto es parte del sistema de acreditación CRAFTA®.

CRAFTA-CERTIFICACION

El plan de estudios CRAFTA® es el resultado del consenso de varios especialistas en fisioterapia y odontología. Los cursos se actualizan cada 6 meses y siguen en la medida de lo posible las directrices europeas de acreditación (recomendaciones de Bolonia).

Los cursos incluyen componentes teóricos y prácticos, así como estudios de casos y presentaciones de pacientes en vivo (según las regulaciones del país). El objetivo final es formar especialistas de alta calidad mediante la presentación de modelos actuales de pensamiento y técnicas para pacientes con dolores de cabeza, disfunciones faciales y cervicales y dolor, siempre que sea posible basándose en la evidencia científica.
