Kim Robinson y Toby Hall son los fundadores y los directores de Manual Concepts. Esta organización fue establecida para desarrollar y proporcionar un nivel de excelencia en la educación de terapia manual para fisioterapeutas.

A través de su experiencia en esta área, Kim y Toby han sido galardonados con los puestos de Fisioterapeutas Musculoesqueléticos Especializados (Fellowship concedido por el Colegio Australiano de Fisioterapeutas en 2007), así como puestos como Profesor Asociado Adjunto y Senior Teaching Fellows en Curtin University of Technology y Senior Teaching Fellow en la Universidad del Oeste de Australia.

El curso cubrirá las bases anatómicas, fisiológicas y funcionales para la evaluación de los trastornos del dolor de la columna vertebral.

De especial interés será la práctica clínica, haciendo hincapié en el examen clínico, la evaluación, la interpretación, diagnóstico diferencial y manejo del mismo. La práctica basada en la evidencia es un componente esencial del programa.

Este curso enfatiza un enfoque basado en la evidencia para la terapia manual espinal, incorporando la clasificación de los trastornos del dolor espinal y la consiguientes subcategorias basadas en la aplicación de estrategias de terapia manual.

Objetivos del curso

  • Conocer los desarrollos clínicamente relevantes en anatomía, patoanatomía y cambios relacionados con la edad de la columna vertebral.
  • Tener una comprensión clara de los mecanismos del dolor y su relevancia clínica, y obtener una comprensión adecuada de las medidas para abordar una variedad de trastornos agudos, crónicos y complejos del dolor.
  • Conocer las pruebas actuales y los procesos de razonamiento clínico con respecto a la terapia manual espinal.
    Ser capaz de aplicar procedimientos de evaluación/valoración/examen de la articulación espinal, neural y muscular.
  • Ser capaz de determinar un diagnóstico diferencial basado en un examen integrado de la articulación, los músculos y los sistemas neuronales de la columna vertebral y la pelvis.
  • Ser capaz de formular el programa de tratamiento de terapia manual más apropiado y efectivo adecuándolo a lo anteriormente evaluado/valorado.
  • Ser competente en la aplicación de una estrategia de tratamiento de terapia manual específica de diagnóstico apropiada que incorpore técnicas de tratamiento manual y ejercicios específicos.
